Networkism is a term coined by Manuel Lima. You can check out what he is talking about here.
It is actually pretty simple. On a cultural level, we are moving beyond linear thinking. There is nothing wrong with linear thinking itself. It produced things like a “tree of knowledge”. But the problem with linear thinking is that it tends towards creating hierarchies. Like the organizational diagram of a firm.
Each box is in fact a person or group of people. And we are starting to realize that when you put people in a box, they act like they belong in a box. they gt stupid.
In order to unleash human potential, you need to set people loose in more fluid relationships patterns. We call these networks and we are starting to like how networks look visually.
Next step, getting used to them as a tool to understand what we are doing and why.
