William James on Energy

If you are in fear that life is too difficult for you. Or if you are without sufficient energy to address the basic things you need to do in order to have a good life, you face a challenge.

Notice I did not say “you have a problem”. Problems are everywhere and most remain unaddressed. Challenges stimulate action. They are addressed problems.

The challenge is to find a way to gather your energy and charge forward. How can one do it? Good question. And it is a question that intrigued William James more than one hundred years ago. he makes an interesting point – we all have reserves of energy that we do not use.  These reserves give us what we call our “second wind”.
